How Your Engine Lets You Know that It Needs Engine Repair

January 25, 2024

Drivers interested in keeping their vehicle in the best condition for as long as possible understand how important it is to watch out for potential warning signs. Often, drivers don’t notice an issue until it becomes obvious. Any issue, if left untreated, can quickly turn into a major headache for drivers. An issue with a vehicle’s engine is no exception.

Engine Repair | TRC Automotive

Vehicles needing engine repair often experience:

  • Loud banging noises from under the hood. Ignoring the sounds and continuing on your route will cause further damage to the engine and the sound often grows louder.
  • Leaking engine oil. Motor oil is essential for keeping the parts of an engine lubricated and preventing overheating and engine seizing, so a large loss of oil can severely hurt your engine.
  • Power loss. An older engine naturally has less power than something newer, but if you notice a stark drop in power from your engine that can’t be explained by regular aging, then it might signal the need for engine repair.
  • An uptick in exhaust smoke. Different colored smoke can indicate different problems with the engine. For instance, the appearance of blue smoke usually means that your vehicle is actively burning oil. White smoke can indicate coolant leakage within the engine. Finally, black smoke can be the result of too much gas finding its way into the combustion chamber. If you’re unsure what is causing the emergence of excessive smoke, a surefire way to find out is to have us run an engine diagnostic test to determine the extent of engine repair required.

If you notice one or more of the following signs of an engine in need of engine repair, you shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to us for help. Contact us today for more information about our engine repair services.
