Schedule Service for Your Brakes to Ensure Safety and Improve Performance

March 24, 2023

No system on your vehicle is as important as the braking system. Having confidence in your brakes means you are sure that each time you find the need to, you can stop your vehicle quickly and predictably. There can be dire consequences if any component in the braking system is worn or compromised in some way. It is important to have your brakes inspected and serviced when necessary to ensure a safe driving experience.

Brakes Repair | TRC Automotive

Brakes come in different forms, with disc brakes being the most common. When you press the brake pedal, brake fluid from the master cylinder is pushed through brake lines and hoses and ultimately puts pressure on pistons in the caliper to create friction between the brake rotor and the brake pads. This is what stops the car, and a problem with any component in this system can spell disaster. Drum brakes are less common, but they work in a similar way, though they do not offer the same stopping power and resistance to brake fade as discs.

Brake pads and brake fluid, which are often overlooked, are the most common and cheapest maintenance items in the braking system. However, brake rotors do sometimes need to be turned or replaced in order to keep the brakes within the safe specifications. Brake hoses may become old, brittle, and in need of replacement, so it is important to inspect them as well. Calipers may last the lifetime of the car, but may also fail and need to be replaced or rebuilt in order to ensure confident, consistent braking.

At TRC Automotive Repair, we serve the Belmont, North Carolina area. We inspect brakes and perform component replacement. We service disc and drum brakes, offer brake fluid and pad/shoe replacement, and perform more complex jobs, such as rotor and caliper services. If you hear a brake pad squealing (as most are designed to do when in need of replacement), are having another issue, or just want to ensure the safety of your braking system, give us a call to schedule an appointment today. We have the knowledge and skills required to keep your brakes in good working order, which will ensure safe-stopping distances and the safety of you and your family!

Windshield wipers are typically made of a rubber blade attached to a metal or plastic arm. The rubber is designed to be replaced, as they can wear out or become cracked due to exposure to the sun and weather elements. In this blog we will briefly discuss about making your windshield wipers last.
