Signs You Need An Alternator Replacement

June 24, 2022

Your car’s alternator is a key part of getting your car to run. It helps to make sure your car battery is charged, so a properly functioning alternator is important. Here are some of the top signs that you may need an alternator replacement.

Alternator Replacement | TRC Automotive
  • Dead battery. If your car battery is on the newer side but is still dying, the problem could be your car’s alternator rather than the battery itself.
  • Slow start up. Your car’s ability to start is reliant on the battery, and since your alternator is a key part of keeping your battery charged, a slow startup or even a complete startup failure could indicate an alternator issue. If your car is struggling to start, you might need an alternator replacement.
  • Strange noises. Weird sounds coming from underneath your car hood could be indicative of a wide range of issues. A whining or growling sound could point toward the alternator specifically needing maintenance or possibly a replacement, so be sure to reach out to us at TRC Automotive Repair if you notice this noise coming from your car.
  • Lights cutting out. In addition to charging your battery, your alternator helps keep your car lights functioning. If your car lights are dimming or flickering, the problem might be your car alternator.

Without a functioning alternator, your car won’t be reliable in getting you where you need to go. If you suspect that you need an alternator replacement, contact us today to help get the problem solved.
