Does Your Car Have a Suspension Issue? Here’s How to Tell

May 25, 2022

At TRC Automotive Repair, we want to help you keep your car in the best possible condition. To do that, we offer a full range of repair and maintenance services. Our team has the right experience to diagnose and correct any problem your car may be having, whether the issue is in the engine, brakes, suspension, system, or anything else. In this article, we will focus on the suspension system and go over a few ways to tell whether your vehicle has a suspension issue.

  • Instability - One sign that your car may have a problem with the suspension is instability as you drive—in other words, you may experience continued bouncing after hitting a bump, or the car may dip when breaking. If your suspension system was working properly, the cabin would remain level with the wheels.
  • Drifting - Another sign of suspension problems is the car starting to drift or pull to one side when turning corners. You may also start to experience difficulty when steering and struggle to keep the car pointed where you want it to go. This is a serious problem, so if this starts to happen to your vehicle, you should get it checked out right away.
  • Uneven Parking - A third sign that something is wrong with your suspension can be seen when the car is parked. Specifically, if one side of the car sits higher than the other when it’s parked, then the suspension is not doing its job properly, and you should have our experts look at it as soon as possible.
